Connie Mae Felton
Connie Mae Felton was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt, as well as a friend to many. She left this world suddenly at home on Wednesday March 16, 2022 at the age of 53. Connie was born in Ohio to the late Charles and Linda Hysell on November 7, 1968. She spent most of her life living in the suburbs of Miami, Florida until moving to the Central Florida town of Mount Dora in 2013. During her professional career Connie worked for many different companies but the job that was the most satisfying to her was the 12 years she worked as a planner/scheduler for the South Florida Water Management District. Connie worked there from 2006 until health issues made her have to take a medical retirement in 2018. She suffered from a host ailments over the course of the last four years but she always tried to have a happy disposition and a smile on her face when she was around her family and friends.Connie loved to travel and when her health permitted, she often enjoyed talking long car rides all over the state of Florida and other neighboring states. She also loved listening to country music and really liked taking long car rides because she knew that she could enjoy hearing hours of commercial free classic country music on satellite radio while riding shotgun in the car with her beloved husband Buck. Connie also tried to travel once a year by plane to visit her daughter and son in law in Texas. Connie’s favorite time of the year was Fall because that’s when football season starts and on most Autumn weekend afternoons she could be found in her living room cheering and sometimes cussing at the television while watching her beloved and sometimes disappointing Miami Hurricanes and Miami Dolphins while they played on the gridiron.Connie is survived by her loving companion, caregiver and husband of 17 years William L. Felton Jr. (Buck) of Mount Dora, FL; her daughter Kalinda and son-in-law Lew Ortiz of San Antonio, TX; her beloved niece and nephew Steven and Stephanie Krantz, both of Fort Pierce, FL; her mother-in-law Cookie Felton; her nieces and nephews Ali, Jordan Beau Logan, Caylee; and several grand nieces and nephews. Connie always said that she didn’t want people to cry and fuss over her when she passed, and she certainly didn’t want to have a traditional funeral. She wanted to be cremated and her remains to be spread over her beloved Everglades. Her family is going to respect her wishes but we may plan a small gathering of family and close friends for a celebration of life ceremony/party in the future
